How to use customer reviews to build more B2B sales

B2B buyers rarely rely on a single source of information when they evaluate suppliers. Before speaking to sales, they may gather insight from multiple sources, including case studies, peer recommendations and customer reviews to understand how a provider performs in practice.

Customer reviews play a particularly valuable role because they offer independent evidence of real customer experiences. They help buyers assess risk, validate claims and understand how a product or service performs in situations similar to their own.

As opportunities progress, that same feedback can help sales teams build trust, answer objections, support proposals and provide stakeholders with the reassurance they need to move forward.

By helping buyers find answers to their questions more quickly, relevant reviews can reduce friction throughout the B2B sales cycle.

An IT director might want reassurance that a platform integrates smoothly with existing systems, while an operations lead may be more interested in its features or the quality of customer support. Reviews give each stakeholder insight into the areas that matter to them, backed by the experiences of businesses that have already put those promises to the test.

Build trust with B2B prospects using purchaser-verified customer reviews

Client feedback adds credibility to sales claims because it comes from people who have already used the service. According to G2's 2026 Buyer Behavior Report, review sites were the leading source influencing B2B software buyers’ vendor shortlists, cited by 38% of respondents.

Client testimonials have their place, but prospects know that businesses typically select which testimonials appear on their websites and sales materials. Verified reviews, collected from confirmed customers through an independent process, provide more reassurance. Sharing a link to the original review lets prospects explore wider feedback, including any criticism and how you've responded. Rather than asking buyers to trust a carefully chosen quote, you're giving them the chance to judge the evidence for themselves.

Make purchaser-verified reviews part of B2B sales conversations

The most useful review in a sales conversation is one that reflects the prospect's priorities or circumstances. Salespeople therefore need an easy way to find relevant feedback before a call.

A logistics firm's review might reveal that warehouse teams adapted to a new system more quickly than office staff. That gives a salesperson a useful opening to ask about training needs and how the prospect plans to manage the rollout.

Customer Success or Marketing can organise reviews by customer type, service or product, using tools such as Feefo’s sales and product tags to group the feedback and surface insights.

Before sharing a review, it's worth checking:

  • Does the review preserve what the customer actually said?
  • Is there a link the prospect can follow to show it’s independently verified?
  • Is it clear what the customer bought and why their experience is comparable?

With that preparation, salespeople can explain why a particular customer's experience is relevant, answer questions about it and help prospects understand how the product or service might work for their own business.

Overcome sales objections with evidence from existing customers

Objections come from different places. A price objection could either mean the budget is tight, or that the prospect is worried about paying for software nobody will use. A review describing successful employee adoption could help with the latter, but wouldn't help if the objection really is about budgets.

Reviews that describe difficulties can help. A piece of client feedback that explains that the first month was rocky, but the support team stayed involved until the problems were resolved, shows a cautious buyer that they’ll be looked after if things go wrong.

Where there is no feedback that addresses the concern, the salesperson should acknowledge that and offer a better way to investigate, such as a technical call, trial or customer reference. Stretching an unrelated review to fit risks undermining the answer.

Make customer reviews more relevant to your target accounts

Reviews aren't only valuable once an opportunity is active. They can also help sales and marketing teams engage target accounts with more relevant messages from the outset.

Let’s say a facilities management company is targeting a retail chain planning to open 40 new stores. A review from a gym operator that used the same service to open 25 sites could be more relevant than one from a retailer with a stable estate.

Operations may want proof of consistent service across sites, while finance may focus on the time a rollout takes. Different reviews can speak to each priority.

This is why account research and review selection belong together. Knowing about the expansion plan is what makes the gym operator’s experience worth sending.

Add stronger customer evidence to RFP responses

Businesses use RFPs to assess suppliers against defined requirements, so customer feedback is most valuable when it's directly connected to the criterion it supports.

For example, a quote about proactive communication may add colour to the account management response, showcasing the approach the company takes with clients. Feedback about a project completed on schedule can support the delivery approach, especially when paired with a sentence explaining how that project compares with the work being tendered.

A general testimonial appendix leaves evaluators to make those connections themselves.

Third-party awards can also support a bid. For example, training provider Astutis includes its Feefo Trusted Service Award badge in tender documents to help communicate its excellent service record.

Reviews and awards provide evidence of customer experience, but they should be used alongside any certifications, technical specifications or formal references required by the RFP.

Give B2B decision-makers the customer proof they need in sales proposals

Your main contact may already be convinced, but they could still need approval from a finance director or board member who didn’t see the demo. The proposal must give those readers enough evidence to assess the recommendation.

Three kinds of proof are useful:

  • A comparable customer experience: a review from a business with a similar need, showing why the proposed approach is credible.
  • Evidence of results: an outcome with enough context to understand what changed and over what period.
  • A way to check the evidence: a link to the published review or an agreed route to a customer reference.

A review proclaiming, “It has saved us so much time”, describes a benefit, but doesn’t quantify it. A specific reduction in resolution time gives a finance director something more concrete. Both statements can strengthen a proposal, provided the distinction is clear.

Use customer reviews to keep the sales cycle moving

Across the sales cycle, relevant customer reviews can give buyers and other stakeholders quicker access to the evidence they need to make decisions. That can reduce avoidable delays caused by unanswered questions, missing proof or the need to seek further reassurance.

Reviews won't remove procurement, legal or budget-related delays, but they can help prevent opportunities losing momentum while sales teams track down evidence to address a buyer's concerns.

Of course, that depends on collecting useful feedback in the first place. Asking specific questions after onboarding or project completion can reveal details that sales teams will find valuable. For example, “How did the migration go?” is more likely to produce useful feedback than a general “How are we doing?”

Feefo's guidance on B2B and SaaS review collection explores how best to choose those moments.

The more specific the feedback, the easier it is for salespeople to address buyers' concerns as they arise, rather than lose momentum while they track down the evidence they need.

Make customer feedback useful throughout the sale

Throughout a B2B sales cycle, buyers are looking for evidence that a supplier can deliver on its promises. Customer reviews help provide that evidence, giving different stakeholders the information they need to evaluate risk, answer questions and make confident decisions.

Whether they're being used in sales conversations, ABM campaigns, proposals or RFP responses, relevant purchaser-verified reviews can help build trust and keep opportunities moving forward.

With expertise in supporting B2B businesses, Feefo helps teams collect, organise and share verified customer reviews, giving salespeople credible evidence to demonstrate value, build trust and help prospective buyers make confident decisions.
