How does Feefo prevent fake reviews?
Feefo uses an invite-only system. Reviews can only be left by customers who have a verified transaction and receive a unique, single-use link. This "closed-loop" process ensures that every review is tied to a real purchase, making it impossible for non-customers or bots to post feedback.
What is the difference between invite-only and open review collection?
Invite-only (Feefo) means only customers with a verified purchase can leave a review via a unique link, ensuring 100% authenticity. Open collection allows anyone to post a review on a public page without proof of purchase, making it vulnerable to fake feedback and "review bombing."
Can I have fake reviews removed from Google or other platforms?
On Feefo, reviews are always verified and linked to transactions but we can remove reviews that violate our terms and ensure they are also removed from your Google Seller Ratings. On open platforms like Google or Trustpilot, you must use their specific reporting tools. If a platform refuses to remove a suspicious review, the best strategy is to respond professionally, stating you have no record of the transaction.
How are negative-but-genuine reviews handled?
Genuine negative reviews cannot be deleted, as they are part of a verified and transparent system. Instead, you should respond publicly to show you care and use the "Request Re-rate" tool once you've resolved the customer's issue. This allows the customer to update their score, turning a negative experience into a positive one.
What happens to suspicious reviews — are they removed or flagged?
They are flagged and quarantined, meaning they are hidden from the public and do not affect your score while they are being investigated. If the review is proven to be fraudulent or a violation of terms, it is permanently removed. If it is found to be genuine, it is released and published.
